Footsteps

She walked a thousand miles,
One foot ahead of the other,
She sees the sunlight from ahead,
She walks with a slow and steady pace.

She admires the trees on either side,
She listens to her heart,
She listens to her gut,
She can see the shadows of her steps,
As she walks down the road.

She smiles with every step she takes,
She knows the journey she has taken,
Has been long and rough,
But the sunshine ahead and the steps she has taken,
Is leading her to a happier self.

One step at a time,
One foot in front of the other,
The baby steps she is taking,
She can see it in front of her.
She sees there is hope,
She sees the light.

She knows this is not the end,
She knows she must continue to walk,
But this road tells her she can do it,
And she will.
